In addition to his museum teaching credits, Guthrie has been extensively involved
in the theatre and film industry, both in front of the camera and behind.
Some of his experiences include TV work on Nurse Jackie, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order: Criminal Intent,
and stage work, such as Broadway's "Big River", and an off-Broadway production of "Children of a Lesser God".
Guthrie has been committed to advocating for Deaf patrons and industry workers
The challenge of using Deaf talent to provide authentic experiences in theater and film, is a constant one.

Under the leadership of Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts, he has worked with several Broadway theaters to help support the distribution of I-Caption devices - which provide more access for Deaf and Hard-of-hearing patrons.
