“I’ve worked with Guthrie for the past two years. I was immediately intrigued by his seemingly innate tendency to seek out and incorporate the latest technologies and techniques into his teaching, and have become increasingly impressed by his ability (and willingness) to translate that experience into professional development opportunities for his colleagues, both within and outside of ASL Education.”

“My students always look forward to Guthrie’s workshops encouraging creativity through drama activities. As a teacher, I am impressed with how Guthrie can adapt any lesson to respect and honor the developmental levels and strengths of all of my students. Thanks to Guthrie, my students have gained a deeper appreciation for the theater.”

"Guthrie Nutter is a wonderful educator. He brings not only his boundless enthusiasm for each topic, but a wealth of knowledge. We leave with information, appreciation and a personal feel for the objects he has guided us through. His warmth and humor shine through every talk. In addition to being a great presenter, he also is an exemplary team player with his interpreters. He prepares us so that the event flows seamlessly. Everyone has a great time - his audience, his interpreters and Guthrie himself. That's possibly the key - he truly enjoys sharing objets d'art with us, and we leave richer for the experience."

"Guthrie Nutter is one of the most creative, talented, bright, witty and stylish people that I know.
His knowledge of the world from architecture, fashion, theatre and nature are all encompassing. If you have an opportunity to see him lecture, teach, perform or just have an innocent conversation, my advice to you is don't walk, run to experience the joy that he has to offer. |

Guthrie Nutter is an outstanding teacher! I was his ASL student for several years, both in a classroom setting and one-on-one. His supportive, well-informed approach combined with his creativity, flexibility and absolute clarity resulted in marked improvement in my signing ability.

For anyone with a genuine interest in learning American Sign Language, there’s nobody I could more highly recommend as a teacher and mentor than Guthrie Nutter. I met Guthrie
as one of his students at The Sign Language Center in New York City. What immediately impressed me about Guthrie was his ability to attend to the individual needs of students with varied skill levels while simultaneously maintaining a high standard of ASL practice in his lesson plans. I was initially intimidated by what, for me, was an advanced level of study. However, Guthrie always found unique ways to help me grasp and utilize the concepts he taught. In addition to attending his open classes, I had the great opportunity to engage Guthrie as a private tutor. Although his instruction was even more demanding in this one-on-one setting he constantly employed different approaches to the material we worked on together to best promote my improvement. His approach consisted of constructive feedback on weekly assignments as well as his requirement for me to regularly assess my own progress from a positive viewpoint. This method gave an invaluable boost to my confidence in what I had accomplished and inspired me to continue my pursuit of ASL.
